Navajas Crianza 2016. 13.5%.

The Wine Society £8.95

Grape - Tempranillo

Rioja is one of our favourite wines. At the beginning of Covid lockdown (March2020) we started a systematic tasting of Riojas. We decided that value for money The Wine Societies Crianza and the wine above were the best, the Navajas just having the edge. If you are a Rioja fan the we recommend the Navajas.

Touraine Chenonceaux. Domaine de la Renaudie £11.95

Grape—Sauvignon Blanc

About 5 years ago we toured the Loire Vally tasting at the vineyards. When we came to Domaine de la Renaudie, we had never even heard of Chenonceaux. It has been one of our favourite whites since. If you find the Touraine Sauvignon Blancs a little too much on the dry/sharp side you will love this.

Hoopes, Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Cambridge Wines £49.50 Our search for a great 100% Cabernet Sauvignon continues. This was a present and on 1 st January we drank it with a venison pie. It was fantastic, giving a score of 9+ on our scale. Even if Cabernet Sauvignon is not your grape you will love this, the only problem is the price.

Undurraga Cauquen Garnacha 2016 14.5%

The Wine Society £22

We loved this wine; we gave it a 9. The grape (Grenache) was grafted on to 80 yr. old pais roots.

It is powerful and ripe but very fresh also. Can be drunk without food (well we think so!)

The only problem is that the Wine Society don’t have any left!
